WHAT: The Aiken Corporation will hold a public information session to share the findings of a feasibility study conducted by architectural firm McMillan Pazdan Smith (MPS) on the proposed mixed-use development project in Aiken.

The goal of the proposed development would be to support the growth of the region’s knowledge economy and serve as a catalyst for further economic success in Aiken. The Savannah River National Laboratory has expressed interest in potentially leasing office space in the proposed mixed-use facility should it move forward. The project concept supports a workplace for 75-100 jobs and a ground floor public meeting/event space. The planning team studied the suitability of five potential sites for the project in order to be thorough in their due diligence.

The topline findings of this study will be shared with meeting attendees and feedback will be welcomed. The meeting will be an open house format with display boards detailing locations considered for the proposed mixed-use development project. No formal presentation will be given. Representatives from MPS will be available to answer questions.

Written public comments will be accepted at the public meeting and later shared with City Council along with the final feasibility study.
